F5AC testimony for Early Support for Families Act

First 5 Alameda County gave testimony in support of home visiting models that are culturally and linguistically appropriate for diverse communities like Alameda County. Congress is deliberating a bill that would allocate funds to support home visiting for high risk families. Compelling results from 9 years of Family Support Services home visiting model were presented.

F5AC School Readiness Evaluation Report released

A study of Kindergarten Readiness of children entering Kindergarten in a sample of Alameda County schools in Fall 2008 was completed by Applied Survey Research. 49% of children studied were ready on a school readiness observation scale. Children who attended the F5AC Summer Pre-Kindergarten Program demonstrated significant results on the Readiness evaluation.

F5AC Training Coalition Evaluation Report released

An evaluation of the Early Care and Education (ECE) Training Coalition demonstrated it was successful in building Alameda County’s capacity to provide community-based ECE trainings. Trainings on health and safety, child development, social-emotional and business practices also had a significant impact on ECE providers attending.
