| California Preschool Instructional Network |
The California Department of Education’s (CDE) California Preschool Instructional Network is a new initiative designed to close the “preparation gap” for three-to-five year olds by providing all children with opportunities to begin Kindergarten ready to learn. Contra Costa County Office of Education is the Lead Educational Agency (LEA) that houses the Region 4 Preschool Instructional Network, serving Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, Napa, San Francisco, San Mateo and Solano counties. |
| Getting Ready School Readiness Indicators Initiative |
The School Readiness Indicators Initiative worked with 17 states over three years to develop a comprehensive set of school readiness indicators to inform public policy for young children and their families. Site includes state-by-state indicators as well as a final report detailing the core indicators for School Readiness as selected across the 17 participating states. |
| First 5 California School Readiness Initiative |
First 5 California’s School Readiness (SR) Initiative is accomplished through the joint efforts of the First 5 California and all 58 counties. The First 5 CA SR Initiative's goal is to implement programs that improve the transition from early care settings to elementary school and increase the schools’ and communities’ capacity to promote the success of young children. A collaborative effort of the SERVE Regional Educational Laboratory and the National Head Start Association that provides a wide variety of transition information and resources for families, professionals, and community partnerships to use as they address children’s transitions into kindergarten. |
