Facility Grant

Technical assistance and grants of up to $50,000 are available to support non-profit child care facility development and renovation.

The Family Child Care Fair is an annual event that emphasizes quality in family child care homes by providing free training opportunities and materials for the environment.

Higher Education Scholarship Opportunities

The Early Care Education Scholarship Fund was established to:
  • Generate funding to support students pursuing higher education with the professional goal of working with children birth to five in early care and education programs in Alameda County
  • Award funding to students who meet specific selection criteria and need as determined by the First 5 Fund donors and administrators

Quality Counts

Quality Counts provides resources for a Quality Coach to work collaboratively with ECE providers to improve program quality. Quality Counts participants are eligible for grants to purchase materials for enhancing child care environments.
Maximum grant amounts:

  • $2,500 for small family child care
  • $5,000 for large family child care
  • $10,000 for centers
Services are offered in English, Spanish and Cantonese.

How to apply:
Next Quality Counts application period is Summer of 2010 for participation during September 2010 through August 2011. Information will be mailed to all licensed family child care providers and centers in Alameda County in late May/ early June 2010.
